VIDEO PHONE comments and observations
05:38
05:55
Cmdr. Straker is at his desk when he takes a video call from Col. Foster on Moonbase. There is a very nice clear view of the Video Phone with Col. Foster shown on the monochrome display (blue tinge). Cmdr. Straker orders Col. Foster to launch Interceptors. It can be seen that ALL the centre (1-8) Selection Switches are set in their forward position.
07:20
17:47
Once again, Cmdr. Straker is in audio/video contact with Col. Foster. At 07:46 we can see Cmdr. Straker lean forward to close the video call: you can hear the click of the switch.
08:46
34:45
Cmdr. Straker is still at his desk, and there is a partial view of the right hand side of the monitor section of the Video Phone. It is interesting to note that 08:33 Col. Foster has to request Nina Barry to initiate to video call to Cmdr. Straker.
10:33
10:34
A very brief partial view of the right hand side of the Video Phone.
11:09
12:22
Cmdr. Straker is just about to sit at his desk when there are two buzzes from the Video Phone. He reaches forward to press a central selection switch at 11: 12 to accept the call. In this shot we have a clear view of the rear of the Selection Switch casing and the curving case as it attaches with the switch housing.
At 11:13 we see the figure of Dalotek's James Blake on the video screen: again, a very fine shot of the Video Phone. It is possible to see some 'unevenness' in the H to N Selection Switches at 11:22.
At 12:17 Cmdr. Straker reaches forward, and uses the #6 Selection Switch to terminate the video call with Blake.
13:37
14:00
Cmdr. Straker is still at his desk, and in video conversation with Col. Foster on Moonbase. At 13:48 the audio/video link is broken by interference from the alien device at Crater 236. At 13:56, Cmdr. Straker leans forward whilst pressing one of the Central Switches, and say's "Breakdown of Moonbase videolink", then leaves his office for SHADO Control.
17:13
17:33
Cmdr. Straker is at his desk, with Col. Freeman in one of the adjacent corner seats. Cmdr. Straker is reaching forward pressing one of the Central Switches attempting to initiate a link to Moonbase. There is a very good view of the right hand side of the Video Phone. In this shot, it can be seen that there are no connecting cables to the Video Phone.
29:16
29:31
From the previous shot outside the Harlington-Straker Film Studios, it is clear that it is late evening. Cmdr. Straker is at his desk in a change of clothes, and in discussion with James Blake at Dalotek. There is a partial view of the right hand side of the monitor section of the Video Phone. At 29:20, there is a clear shot of Blake in the close up of the Video Phone monitor. It is interesting that in this shot, it is Blake who terminates the call from his end.
30:17
30:28
Cmdr. Straker is at his desk and in a video call with Col. Foster, and at 30:19 once again, the video signal breaks up. At 30:26, Cmdr. Straker tries various switches to correct the communications problem.
32:31
34:30
There is a very clear view of the Video Phone display, the Mini-camera and the front video monitor bezel. From this view it is fairly obvious that there is an insert (looks like a plastic cutout) between the monitor display and the Video Phone bezel. The video shot pulls backwards until there is an almost full front view of the Video Phone.
At 33:07 Lt. Ford presses either the 'B' or 'C' Selector Switch to request the playing of the 'Dr. Stranges video' and to be channeled into the office.

At 33:12, we can see that there IS a cable connected to the right hand connector port at the bottom right of the Video Phone, AND that the once circular connector holes have been elongated to the bottom of the Video Phone casing. At 33:37, Lt. Ford once again uses either the 'B' or 'C' Selector Switch to ask that the video is 'wound on'.
36:37
37:17
In Cmdr. Straker's office, Cmdr. Straker and Lt. Ford are still watching for clues from the 'Dr. Stranges video'. At 36:49, once again, Cmdr. Straker asks Lt. Ford to 'stop the tape'. Lt. Ford leans across the Video Phone, and once again using either the 'B' or 'C' Selector Switch asks to 'stop the tape.' and then at 36:53 he uses the switch once again to ask that the tape be rewound 10 ft.
37:44
39:02
Still in Cmdr. Straker's office, the Video Phone can be seen in a reflective shot via the "Earth, Sun and Moon" wall mounted orrery.
41:19
41:38
Cmdr. Straker is at his desk. There is a buzz from the Video Phone and Cmdr. Straker uses one of the Centre Selection Switches to accept the call.
At 41:28, it can be seen that there are no ventilation slots on top of the Video Phone.
At 41:30, there is a very clear shot of the front of the Video Phone display: it can be seen that Selector Switch #3 is ON and that it has been used to accept the video call from Col. Foster.
42:18
42:36
Still in Cmdr. Straker's office, Cmdr. Straker is in a video call with Col. Foster. At 42:24, it can be seen that Selector Switch #3 is OFF as are ALL the other switches. At 42:32, it is Col. Foster who terminates the video call. END

VIDEO PHONE comments and observations
18:35
20:25
Cmdr. Straker sits down at his desk, the Video Phone is in its usual position. It can be seen that there are no ventilation slots on top of the Video Phone. Cmdr. Straker waits until Col. Freeman has left his office and then at 19:12 presses one of the Centre Selection Switches to tell Lt. Ford to order the SHADair Transporter at the SHADO Base New York to standby for immediate takeoff.
At 19.22 Cmdr. Straker releases the Centre Selection Switch.
At 20:20 a cable connected to the Video Phone is visible.
24:05
24:39
Cmdr. Straker is still seated at his desk. At 24.07, Cmdr. Straker reaches to press one of the Centre Selection Switches to connect with Lt. Ford, "Where's that Transporter?".
Cmdr. Straker disconnects the call using a Centre Selection Switch at 24:18. It can be seen at this point that there are no ventilation slots on top of the Video Phone.
28:56
28:58
A long shot in Cmdr. Straker's office. The Video Phone is visible at the far left corner of Cmdr. Straker's desk with a connecting cable visible.
30:26
31:07
Cmdr. Straker is contemplating the situation at his desk. At 30:32, Col. Freeman comes into the office and there is a great front right oblique shot of the Video Phone.
At 30:37, Col Freeman presses the #1 Centre Selection Switch to tell Lt. Ford to play back the recording of the 'old lady' talking to the alien.
At 30:45, Col. Freeman terminates the playback using the same switch.
34:08
34.23
The Video Phone is just visible in this sequence.
35:50
38:54
In this last sequence, the Video Phone is visible together with a connecting cable.

VIDEO PHONE comments and observations
24:04
24:08
The Video Phone is not visible, but there is a buzz from Video Phone, and without any interaction Lt. Ford informs Cmdr. Straker that SHADO Control have a RADAR trace.
35:38
36:59
Cmdr. Straker is at his desk, and the rear right of the Video Phone is visible.
At 35:44 Cmdr. Straker presses one of the Centre Selection Switches to ask Dr. Jackson to come to his office. Jackson enters Cmdr. Straker's office.
At 36:56 Cmdr. Straker presses a key on the Video Phone to open his office sliding doors.
37:49
38:13
As Col. Freeman rises from one of the corner seats the Video Phone comes into view in its normal position on Cmdr. Straker desk. It is just possible to see that the Video Phone is connected by a cable at the rear.
At 38:09 Cmdr. Straker uses one of the Centre Selection Switches to open his office door.

VIDEO PHONE comments and observations
01:49
02:28

Cmdr. Straker is just seating himself at his desk whilst in conversation with Col. Freeman. The Video Phone is in its usual position at the far left corner of the desk.
At 01:49 it is possible to see that the Video Phone is connected by cable via its left connector port, and that both cable ports are now slots that reach to the base of the Video Phone.
At 01:50,it is possible to see the two domed screw heads that presumably secure the rear panel of the Video Phone: the domed screw-heads visibility is dependent on the lighting as in other shots they are hard to see. Once again, there are no ventilation slots visible on the top of the Video Phone casing.
At 02:02 the Video Phone buzzes and Cmdr. Straker presses one of the switches (not visible) to enable a voice conversation with Miss Ealand, and he releases the key to finish the conversation at 02:16.

NB: in most of the other episodes he uses his centre orange hands-free phone handset to talk with Miss Ealand.
At 02:27, Cmdr. Straker uses one of the Video Phone switches (not visible) to open the office doors.
09:28
12:16

Cmdr. Straker passes in front of the Video Phone as he seats himself at his desk: a cable at the back of the Video Phone is clearly visible. This is a very interesting view of Cmdr. Straker's office and especially the Video Phone.
At 10:02, Cmdr. Straker reaches across and uses the Centre #2 (?) Switch to open the office doors for Lt. Ford to exit.
At 10:31, Cmdr. Straker uses one of the Centre Switches (not visible) to call Miss Ealand, and closes the call using the same switch at 10:39: it is interesting to note that Cmdr. Straker is looking straight at the screen whilst in conversation with Miss Ealand - it is possible that it was intended as a video call and not just audio.
At 11:06, we see that Miss Ealand uses the light green handsfree phone to connect with Cmdr. Straker.
At 11:07, once again, Cmdr. Straker presses one of the Centre Switches (not visible) to take the call from Miss Ealand.
At 11:23 Cmdr. Straker releases the key to close the call from Miss Ealand.
At 11:42, Cmdr. Straker is packing his briefcase and tidying his desk. Cmdr. Straker shows his vacant office chair to Col. Freeman: hence, "The Responsibility Seat".
At 12:03, there is a good and clear right side view of the Video Phone with its cable hanging down over the back of the desk.
15:41
16:23

Col. Freeman entered Cmdr. Straker's office in time to accept a call from Miss Ealand.
At 15:41 Col. Freeman presses one of the Centre Switches to accept her call. In this frame there is almost a perfect right side square on view of the Video Phone. Again, Miss Ealand is using the light green handsfree phone to connect with Cmdr. Straker's Video Phone.
At 15:50, Col. Freeman releases the switch to close the call. The office door opens and Lt. Ford enters the office. Col. Freeman and Lt. Ford have a conversation.
At 16:23, Col. Freeman presses a switch on the Video Phone (not visible) to open the doors for Lt. Ford to leave.
19:08
Cmdr. Straker pulls up outside 'Windermere Hall', the same address/building that Paul Foster's ex-girlfriend (Tina Duval) lives in.
21:45
22:27

Col. Freeman is in Cmdr. Straker's office when Lt. Ford arrives for Col. Freeman to sign-off a SkyDiver 'practice launch' authorisation. As before, the Video Phone is located in its normal location at the far left corner of Cmdr. Straker's desk.
23:44
24:36

We see Lt. Ford in SHADO Control voicecall Col. Freeman, who takes the call via the light pink handsfree phone on Cmdr. Straker's desk.
At 23:50, we see Col. Freeman press one of the Centre Video Phone Switches to complete the video call with Col. Foster on Moonbase.
At 24:24, Col. Freeman closes the video-call with Col. Foster using the Centre #3 Selection Switch.
26:09
26:26

Once again, a very clear view of the right hand side of the Video Phone.
At 26:24, we see Col. Freeman reach across to the Video Phone to open the office doors to allow Lt. Ford to exit.
26:40
26:49

We see Col. Freeman seated at Cmdr. Straker's desk.
At 26:46, there is a very good rear oblique view of the Video Phone with a cable attached to the left connector slot.
28:20
28:38

We see Col. Freeman approach Cmdr. Straker's desk after hearing a triple beep from the Video Phone. Col. Freeman clearly presses the Centre #1 Switch to take the call.
At 28:22 there is a very nice and clear straight on view of the Video Phone. Once again, Miss Ealand is using her light green handsfree phone to make the call to Cmdr. Straker's Video Phone.
At 28:35, Col. Freeman releases the Centre #1 Switch to close the call.
31:32
31:54

A low front right side oblique view of the Video Phone on Cmdr. Straker's desk.
It is interesting to note that Lt. Ford enters Cmdr. Straker's office without Col. Freeman needing to open the door using the Video Phone. But, when Lt. Ford is leaving the office, Col. Freeman opens the door 31:52 using one of the Centre Selection Switches; possibly the #1 Switch.
32:57
33:12

Again, Col. Freeman is seated at Cmdr. Straker's desk in a Video Phone call with Col. Foster on Moonbase.
At 33:11, it is possible to see that a number of the Selection Switches are set and some are not.
At 32:12, it is Col. Foster who terminates the video-call.
45:24
46:30

Col. Freeman is seated at Cmdr. Straker's desk, there is a very good view of the Video Phone and the cable connected via the left connection slot. Again, there are no visible slots on the top of the Video Phone.
At 46:23, after a little tidying, Cmdr. Straker takes back control of his own office seat and desk.

At 14:00 Cmdr. Straker uses one of the Central Selection Switches to close his office doors.
At 14:03, there is a very clear right front oblique view of the Video Phone; it is located slightly forward on the desk than its usual position further at the back of the desk. It is possible to see that the left most Selection Switches A, B, C and D are set forward; ALL the other are not.
It is possible to see that there is a gap of about 1 cm between the bottom of the Video Phone and the surface of the desk.
15:42

02:51
Cmdr. Straker is just leaving his office for the evening. The Video Phone is shown in its usual place at the left far corner of his desk. The two connector slots are visible together with a connecting cable in the left slot. It is interesting to see that the cable drops down behind the desk then tucks over the lowest 'step' in the perspex desk.
05:17
06:22
There is a SHADO Video Phone placed diagonally on the right side of his desk.
Also, in this episode General Henderson's whole office has a different decor and layout.
